Pricing FAQ
Need some clarifications? Here are some answers to the frequently asked questions on our pricing.
No. With MailBluster SMTP, no separate third-party SMTP account is required. MailBluster manages the sending infrastructure, deliverability monitoring, and sender reputation for you. If you already use your own SMTP provider, you can continue using it.
You can send emails in two ways: with MailBluster SMTP or by connecting your own supported SMTP provider, such as Amazon SES, Postmark, Mailgun, or SMTP2GO. And, of course, if you use a third-party SMTP account, you need your SMTP provider to grant you production access.
- Amazon SES: Your account must be moved out of the sandbox.
- Postmark, Mailgun or SMTP2GO: Similar production-ready approval is required.
Make sure your chosen SMTP provider is fully set up before sending emails through MailBluster.
With Bring Your Own SMTP, you connect MailBluster to your own SMTP provider and manage the associated SMTP service and costs yourself. With MailBluster Managed SMTP, the SMTP infrastructure is managed by MailBluster, making setup simpler and removing the need to maintain a separate SMTP service.
It depends on how you send emails with MailBluster.
If you use MailBluster Managed SMTP, the SMTP sending cost is included in your Managed SMTP plan. You do not need a separate third-party SMTP account or pay a separate SMTP provider. Managed SMTP plans start at $17/month for 10,000 emails.
If you use Bring Your Own SMTP, SMTP fees are not included in your MailBluster pricing. These are billed separately by the SMTP you choose, such as Amazon SES, Mailgun, Postmark or SMTP2GO, based on their own pricing.
Starter plan: If you send 3,000 emails using MailBluster’s Starter plan, your cost on MailBluster is $0.00. Amazon SES, Mailgun, Postmark and SMTP2GO will also charge separately once their respective free tiers are exceeded.
Pro plan: If you send 100,000 emails per month using MailBluster’s Pro plan, you pay $60.00 to MailBluster.
- With Amazon SES, Amazon will charge $16.00.
- Similarly, Mailgun, Postmark and SMTP2GO will begin charging once their free quota is used.
* A super tiny cost might incur if you exceed the Amazon SNS free limit, which is explained in the next question.
Yes, it depends on the SMTP service you use with MailBluster. If you're using SMTP providers like Postmark, Mailgun or SMTP2GO, there are no additional charges.
However, if you're using Amazon SES, you’ll incur a super tiny extra charge for Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS). MailBluster uses the HTTP/s Endpoint notification delivery type, which costs $0 for the first 100,000 requests a month. And an additional $0.60 per million requests. More details on SNS pricing.
To give you an approximate idea of the cost - If you send 100k emails - with 20% open rate and 10% click rate, the total SNS request will be (100,000 for delivery + 20,000 for opens + 10,000 clicks ) = 130,000. Amazon SNS charge will be (130,000 - 100,000 ) = 30,000 x ($0.60/1,000,000) = $0.018 (Since the first 100,000 are free, the extra 30,000 are billed).
No. If you use MailBluster Managed SMTP for a brand, you can’t use another SMTP provider for that Brand at the same time.
Yes. With Bring Your Own SMTP, MailBluster offers a Starter plan with no credit card required. It lets you send up to 3,000 emails in total and includes MailBluster branding, making it suitable for testing the platform before upgrading.
If you use MailBluster Managed SMTP, you get a 14-day free trial, during which you can send up to 100 emails per day.
Yes. MailBluster Managed SMTP offers monthly pricing plans based on the number of emails you want to send each month. MailBluster Managed SMTP pricing starts at $17 per month for 10,000 emails, with plans available for up to 250k emails per month. The SMTP cost is already included, so you don't need to pay a separate SMTP provider. You can also choose yearly billing and save 10%.
Your campaign will continue sending even after you exceed your monthly email allowance. Additional emails are charged based on your selected plan’s extra-email rate per 1,000 emails.
For example, if you choose the 10,000 emails/month plan, additional emails are charged at $1.96 per 1,000 emails depending on the email pack volume. The higher the email volume of your selected plan, the lower the rate for additional emails.
We do indeed. With MailBluster managed SMTP, if you need to send more than 250k emails/month, contact us and we’ll be happy to discuss the best option for your sending needs.
