How to set Action URL for your Brand in MailBluster?

When MailBluster adds subscribe URL to your double opt-in email, unsubscribe URL and web version URL to your campaign email, it adds a link of its own domain. The default URL is https://andromeda.mbmail1.com.

You need to set the Action URL if you want to change the default URL and replace it with your own. It accepts a domain/subdomain. For example, you can set it to http://subdomain.domain.com, and MailBluster will use this domain as an Action URL. You can set it from the Brand > Settings > Custom URL tab of MailBluster.

Setting up Action URL

If the DNS of your website is not Cloudflare, you must use HTTP protocol for your Action URL.

You also need to set a CNAME record that points to MailBluster’s domain custom.mbmail1.com. You will be instructed accordingly on the process like the one shown below:

After setting the Action URL, you can test the behavior by sending test emails to yourself.

If you use Cloudflare for your domain then use the following settings:

Using HTTP in Action URL:

  1. Set http://subdomain.domain.com as Action URL on MailBluster
  2. Create a new CNAME record subdomain.domain.com on Cloudflare that points to custom.mbmail1.com.
  3. Disable Cloudflare proxy for this record.
  4. It might take some time to propagate the record. You can try visiting http://subdomain.domain.com in your web browser to check if it’s propagated. If propagated, a page not found page of MailBluster should get displayed.
  5. Once DNS propagation is done (maximum 48 hours), send a test email and check the web version and unsubscribe links.

Using HTTPS in Action URL:

  1. Set https://subdomain.domain.com as Action URL on MailBluster
  2. Create a new CNAME record https://subdomain.domain.com on Cloudflare that points to custom.mbmail1.com.
  3. Enable Cloudflare proxy for this record.
  4. It might take some time to propagate the record. You can try visiting https://subdomain.domain.com in browser to check if it’s propagated. If propagated, a page not found page of MailBluster should get displayed.
  5. Once DNS propagation is done (maximum 48 hours), send a test email and check the web version and unsubscribe links.

Both cases will work if you use Cloudflare for your domain.

If your https is still not active yet in your domain, then you need to use http in Action URL instead.

Once you set the Action URL, please make sure it’s working before sending your next campaign. You can test this by simply sending a test email campaign to yourself and check the behaviour. If you see this then you are good to go:
